Dog and cat owners in South Amboy are encouraged to renew their pet licenses by May.

Pet owners can purchase licenses from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at City Hall, 140 N. Broadway, South Amboy, or make a check payable to the City of South Amboy and mail it to town hall.

Licensing fees are $8 for dogs with proof of spay or neutering and $11 for non spayed or neutered dogs. Cat licenses cost $6.20. After May 1, there will be an additional $2.50 late fee.

Rabies vaccinations must be given to the animal prior to getting a new license.

The township has scheduled a free rabies clinic for April 21. Cats will be vaccinated from 9-9:30 a.m. and dogs will be vaccinated from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
