The baseball players  are determined to swing the bat at East Brusnwick Vocational Technical High School.

“Being more aggressive at the plate,” East Brunswick Tech coach Todd Sak said. “Not letting so many strike ones go right down the middle of the plate. We do that, then next thing we know, we’re down 0-2, and the pitcher has the advantage.”

Joseph Corsaro, who is a senior first baseman, echoed the approach of his coach.

“We just have to be more aggressive,” Corsaro said. “Today, I only looked at balls and swung at every single strike I saw.”

Those comments came after an 11-4 loss at home to South Amboy Middle High School on May 7 in East Brunswick.

Despite the loss, East Brunswick Tech still sported a fine record of 11-5.

And Sak was pleased with the performances of some of the younger Tigers.

“I liked that we didn’t bury our heads,” Sak said. “We kept battling. My sophomore pitcher [Jordan Horowitz] came in and was able to hold them at bay towards the end.”

“Pitching wise, like coach said, Jordan was able to come in and do some good things,” Corsaro said “Hitting wise, the end of the lineup did well when they came in.”

With the Greater Middlesex Conference and state tournaments  looming, Sak is preaching the aggressive approach in order for the Tigers to move on through the playoffs.

“I expect us to keep winning and to keep playing good baseball,” Sak said. “We have a few more regular season games coming up. Then, we have the county tournament and state tournament. So, if we can put it together, and like Joe said, be more aggressive, then hopefully, we’ll improve from there.”

“If we become more aggressive, and if the top of the order starts hitting more, than we definitely can make noise in county’s and states,” Corsare said.

Sak stated that the development of a young roster has been key.

“[Sophomore] Garrett Allo,” Sak said. “[Senior] R.J. Jobin, Corsaro and Horowitz. I have a young team and I believe that they are all improving as we go along here. That’s all that matters.”

The Tigers will seek to continue their aggressive style on May 17 when they play as the host to South River High School. Game time is at 4 p.m.
