Freehold Township school board awards contracts for improvements

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – The Freehold Township K-8 School District Board of Education has awarded a $364,960 contract for the replacement of an automatic temperature control system at a local elementary school.

On May 22, the board awarded the contract to Gabe Sganga Inc., Farmingdale, for the replacement of the Joseph J. Catena School’s automatic temperature control system. The company was the lowest bidder seeking the contract to complete the work.

Another firm, Comfort Mechanical Corp., submitted a bid of $381,000 in seeking the contract.

And, board members awarded a $320,200 contract to Levy Construction Company, Audubon, for the replacement of doors and hardware at all eight district schools.

The contract consists of a $244,600 base bid, a $15,600 alternate bid for security glazing, a $75,600 alternate bid for additional doors and hardware replacement and security window film, and a $9,600 alternate bid for security glazing at additional doors being replaced. Levy Construction was awarded the contract as the lowest bidder.

Another firm, MJJ Construction, submitted a total bid of $460,000 in seeking the contract.

In addition to the Catena school, the Freehold Township school district is comprised of the Early Childhood Learning Center, the C. Richard Applegate School, the Laura Donovan School, the Marshall W. Errickson School, the West Freehold School, the Barkalow Middle School and the Eisenhower Middle School.

Finally, the board awarded a $365,000 bid to Multi Roof Maintenance, Wall Township, for roof replacement at the board administration offices and the Early Childhood Learning Center. The contract is comprised of a $338,000 base bid and a $27,000 alternate bid for work on brick re-pointing, the exterior roof access ladder, gravity vents, fiberglass insulation and the built-in gutter, according to the board.

Other bids were received from Arista Builders and Designers ($381,000), Northeast Roof Maintenance ($535,500) and D.A. Nolt ($592,461). Multi Roof Maintenance was awarded the contract as the lowest bidder, according to the board.
