The First Presbyterian Church (FPC) of Metuchen’s Mission and Outreach Commission is supporting FPC’s Immigration Fund and building awareness to support the Indonesian families in its congregation with the purchase of the #keepfamiliestogether lapel pin.

The pins, which are about 1-inch in size, are available for purchase at the FPC Office, 270 Woodbridge Ave., Metuchen, during regular business hours. Additional purchase locations will be announced soon at fpcweb.org. The pins are available for $7 for one, $5 for each additional pin.

All proceeds will benefit the church’s Immigration Fund, a source of funding to support the advocacy efforts for the release by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement of church member and Metuchen resident Roby Sanger, and support his and other Indonesian families.

Sanger was detained by immigration authorities on Jan. 25 after dropping his daughter off at school and has been jailed since then. He is an Indonesian Christian who fled his country more than 20 years ago because of religious persecution. He applied for asylum but missed a one-year filing deadline. Consequently, he overstayed his visa, according to information provided by the church.
