• The American Association of University Women Freehold branch will host its annual used book sale from June 20-23 at the First United Methodist Church, 91 W. Main St., Freehold. Residents of all towns are invited to purchase books of all types: gardening, children’s classics, fantasy, mystery, nature, biography, fiction, science fiction, history, psychology and sports. The AAUW book sale has been a tradition in Freehold since 1973. Hours are June 20, 1-8 p.m. (Preview Day, admission $10 for that day only); June 21-22, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and June 23, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Bag Day, $5 for a bag of books). There is no admission charge June 21-23. Most books are priced at 50 cents to $2. Special books are priced higher. Proceeds are used to assist outstanding area high school female seniors and women over 25 who are returning to college to pursue undergraduate or graduate degrees.

• New Beginnings Agape Christian Center, 133 Throckmorton St., Freehold Borough, will present a gospel jazz brunch at 11 a.m. June 16. Residents of all communities are welcome to attend the performance. Admission is $35 and lunch will be served. Details: 732-618-5626.

• The Freehold Borough K-8 School District Board of Education meetings originally scheduled for July 17 at the Freehold Learning Center, and Aug. 7 and Aug. 21 at the Park Avenue Complex will all be held in the Borough Council meeting room at Borough Hall, 51 W. Main St., Freehold Borough, at 7 p.m. on those dates. The locations have been changed due to ongoing construction work at the Freehold Learning Center and at the Park Avenue Complex. • The 2018 Discussion Series sponsored by Kathy Lo Bue, managing director, Glen Eagle Advisors, will focus on the topic “All About Dementia,” presented by Nicolette Vasco, program coordinator, Alzheimer’s Association of New Jersey, from 7:30-9:30 p.m. June 26 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. • Temple Rodeph Torah, Marlboro, in conjunction with the Reform Jewish Voice of New Jersey, is hosting an evening of civic engagement training for congregations. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. June 14. The sessions will be led by speakers from the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice and the Reform Jewish Voice of New Jersey. • The Monmouth County 4-H Livestock Clubs and the Monmouth County Park System invite area residents to attend the Monmouth County 4-H Spring Livestock Expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 16 at Thompson Park, 805 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft. • The Monmouth County Genealogy Society invites the public to enjoy “Someone Must Wash the Dishes,” an anti-suffrage satire written in 1912 and performed by professional actress Michele LaRue at 2:30 p.m. during the July 8 meeting of the Monmouth County Genealogy Society at the Community Center, 72 Broad St., Eatontown. • The Italian American Association of Monmouth County will host an Italian culture enrichment camp from July 23 to Aug. 3 (Monday-Friday) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (included-lunch made by camper on premises) at the Reformed Church of Freehold, 67 W. Main St., Freehold. Cost per camper: $250 for child/grandchild of current IAA members;  $300 for non-members. Age groups: 5 years old to teenagers. • Calling eco/green/sustainable vendors. The Monmouth County Park System’s Eco-Elephant Family Flea Market is still accepting vendors. The flea market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 16 at Dorbrook Recreation Area, Route 537, Colts Neck. The flea market will feature new and used household items, antiques, crafts and more. Vendors must provide their own tables, tents and merchandise. Space permitting, prospective vendors are welcome up to and including the day of the event. • No Stigma Network (NSN) offers free peer support meetings and social events for community members living with mental health challenges. All support meetings take place in the Star and Barry Tobias Ambulatory Campus of the CentraState Health Complex, Freehold Township. • Congregation Ahavat Olam, a Conservative Jewish congregation, will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to noon June 24 at 106 Windeler Road, Howell. There will be activities for children. The synagogue offers concerts, lectures, a religious school, adult education and more. On June 24, guests will have the opportunity to meet Rabbi David Amar. • The third annual Colts Neck High School Naval JROTC golf outing will be held July 9 at Battleground Country Club, Manalapan. The cost per golfer is $225 (includes golf, Super Ticket – chance to win a 2018 BMW,  lunch, complimentary beverages, full use the club’s facilities, end-of-day reception and buffet dinner). • The Italian American Cultural Society of New Jersey invites members of the public to its Comedy Night on June 14 at 7 p.m. at MJ’s (Buttonwood Manor), Matawan. This will be a dinner and a show featuring the comedy of Uncle Floyd and the vocal performance of the society’s own Lou Orrichio. The cost is $35 per person for members and $45 for non-members. • The Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District Board of Education will hold a regular action meeting at 7 p.m. June 26 at the district offices at 54 Main St., Englishtown. The meeting is open to the public.

• The St Vincent de Paul Society of The Parish of St. Thomas More, Manalapan, and Our Lady of Mercy, Englishtown, will hold a clothing drive from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 16 at the Manalapan Recreation Center Dreyer parking lot. The following items may be donated: clothing, shoes, belts, pocketbooks, backpacks, linens, stuffed animals and toys (14 inches or less). All proceeds will assist members of the community who are experiencing financial difficulties, without regard to age, race, religion or creed.

• Embroiderers’ Guild of America-Monmouth Chapter is dedicated to teaching and sharing the joys of needlework. Stitchers of all levels are welcome to attend a meeting. • The Monmouth County Audubon Society will host a summer evening bird walk on Sandy Hook in northern Monmouth County at 6 p.m. June 21. Anyone interested in participating in the event can meet at 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the old Sandy Hook Visitors Center, just north of Lot E (1.8 miles from the park entrance). The trip is open to members and non-members of the Audubon Society and participation is free. Advance registration is not required. Dress appropriately for the weather. • Jewish War Veterans of the USA Post 536, serving Marlboro and Manalapan, holds a breakfast meeting on the third Sunday of every month at the Covered Bridge clubhouse at 10:30 a.m. The post will pay a new member’s first year dues. • Disabled American Veterans Chapter 74, Freehold, will meet at 7 p.m. June 26 at the American Legion, 62 W. Main St. Freehold. • American Legion Molly Pitcher Post 434, Manalapan, is seeking individuals to join the organization’s regular membership, Sons of the American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary and Legion Riders. • The Manalapan-Englishtown Community Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse has launched its Project Zero website at projectzeromanalapan.com. Project Zero is the alliance’s initiative to reset the narrative in Englishtown and Manalapan regarding substance abuse. The website contains information about where residents can go for assistance.

• The Fresh Air Fund is seeking area residents who would like to host a child this summer through the fund’s Friendly Towns Program. The children participate in activities with their host family during their stay. The Fresh Air Fund has provided free summer experiences to more than 1.8 million New York City children from low-income communities since 1877. Children are boys and girls, ages 7 to 18. • The Deep Cut Orchid Society meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month at the Monmouth Reform Temple, 332 Hance Ave., Tinton Falls. There is a speaker, refreshments and a discussion of plants on the show table. There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome.

• New Jersey Blood Services is in need of volunteers to work blood drives in Ocean and Monmouth counties. Tasks include assisting donors with registration, watching donors for post-donation reactions and responding to their needs. Details: Jan Zepka, 732-616-8741.
