RED BANK – Municipal officials have awarded a $52,350 professional services contract to Walker Consultants and have directed the firm to conduct a comprehensive parking study in Red Bank.
A resolution awarding the contract to the New York firm was passed at the May 30 meeting of the Borough Council. The unanimous vote came from council President Edward Zipprich Councilwoman Kathleen Horgan, Councilman Michael Ballard, Councilman Mark Taylor, Councilman Michael Whelan and Councilman Erik Yngstrom.
The resolution does not define what the “comprehensive parking study” will entail or when the firm’s report will be presented to the members of the governing body and the public. The resolution states that the borough’s contract with the firm will run from June 1, 2018 through May 31, 2019.
According to the resolution, six companies submitted bids to conduct the parking study. In addition to Walker Consultants they were: Nelson NY Guard, New York City, which bid $152,399; Kimley-Horn, Princeton, which bid $162,400; Timothy Haahs & Associates Inc., New Brunswick, which bid $108,000; Maser Consulting P.A., Red Bank, which bid $116,820; and Desman Design Management, New York City, which bid $96,505.
Borough officials said in the resolution that Walker Consultants is qualified to carry out the tasks associated with the parking study, but they did not enumerate those tasks.
Neither Zipprich nor Business Administrator Ziad Shehady returned messages seeking comment on the details of the parking study that will be conducted in the 2.2-square-mile community.
