Residents of Jamesburg and Monroe are receiving phone calls from 732-749-8549, claiming to be a national police officers union, soliciting money.

The caller states he/she is giving money to the Jamesburg and Monroe police departments, according to information released by both departments.

The subject asks for a credit card number. Police are advising residents to not provide any information.

Jamesburg PBA Local 389 mails one letter per year asking for donations, around October. There is no phone solicitation, according to officials.
