Community asked to support South River fire victims

 

SOUTH RIVER – A family whose home suffered damage during a fire on Father’s Day is in need of support.

The South River Fire Department responded to a fire at 8 Union Ave. around 12:15 a.m. on June 17, according to Fire Chief Charles Matts.

He said he residence is currently uninhabitable.

No one was injured; however, two cars were damaged due to the fire, according to Matts. He said the fire is under investigation by the Middlesex County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Firefighters from East Brunswick Fire District No. 1, East Brunswick Fire District No. 2, the New Brunswick Fire Department, the Sayreville Fire Department and the Milltown Fire Department also responded to the fire, according to Matts.
