Free swing dance event on the Metuchen Town Plaza July 13

Jake's Country Band played a live session at the Sayreville Senior Center sponsored by the Sayreville Cultural Arts Council. Susan Dudla and Doris Bacsoka, both of Sayreville, line danced to live tunes on April 4.

The Metuchen Arts Council and Metuchen Downtown Alliance will hold their first free summer swing dance event on the new Metuchen Town Plaza on the corner of New and Pearl streets on July 13. Rain date July 20.

The evening gets under way at 7 p.m. with a free beginner dance lesson given by Nissreen Almazouni, an avid social swing dancer and a classic Lindy Hopper. She will also do a special performance with her dancers during the band break.

From 8-10 p.m., the Swingadelics will be play music.

There will be free parking available in the Pearl Street Parking Deck.
