Metuchen GOP committee reorganizes with new officers

METUCHEN – The Metuchen Republican Committee has named its officers for the next year.

The committee accepted nominations for various offices, and after a vote of
its members, the following new slate of officers are Chairman Richard Menziuso, former candidate for Borough Council; Vice Chairman Christopher Morrison, former elected Metuchen councilman; Treasurer Steve Kitsko, former candidate for council; and Secretary Kieran Esposito, former candidate for council.

Dan Lebar, who served as chairman, passed away several months ago. Menziuso said Lebar was a candidate for office numerous times, was involved in many local civic and private organizations, helped Metuchen TV get off the ground, led the Traffic and Transportation committee for several years and was a fixture at council meetings.

“His sudden passing is a great loss for our committee and for Metuchen,” Menziuso said. “For the last few months, our vice chairman, Joseph Furmato, has been serving as acting chair. At the time of Dan’s death, Joe was in the process of winding down his own work with the committee. Joe and his family will be leaving Metuchen to be closer to his extended family and work. Joe interrupted his own plans and continued to serve in recognition of Dan’s death. With the reorganization, Joe has formally stepped down. We thank Joe for his contributions in the last few years and wish him well.”
