Longstanding Monmouth Medical Center (MMC) supporters Bonnie and Simon Levin consider their life together to be very fortunate and, in turn, continue to prioritize the importance of giving back. Recognizing the future needs of MMC, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, the pair decided to become members of the Cranmer Legacy Society by including a $500,000 gift to the hospital in their estate plan.
Members of the Cranmer Legacy Society have expressed their commitment to MMC through a very special and important form of financial support. The Cranmer Legacy Society was established in honor of Ella B. Cranmer whose estate gave MMC $4.5 million, one of the largest gifts in the hospital’s history. Today, the society honors those who have generously provided for MMC in their estate plans.
The Levins know from firsthand experience about the exceptional level of care that MMC provides and have always been grateful. Bonnie, a cancer survivor, founded the MMC Women’s Council in 1995 in order to help educate women about cancer prevention and on the importance of early detection as well as to raise funds for the Leon Hess Cancer Center. Her husband, Simon, served on the MMC Foundation’s Board of Trustees. Together, they have a long history of financial support to the hospital and their new commitment to the hospital will further support MMC’s Women’s Council. Since the council’s inception, nearly three million dollars has been raised for the Leon Hess Cancer Center at MMC.
“The Levins have always recognized the vital role that philanthropy plays at MMC,” said Bill Arnold, president and CEO of MMC. “Thanks to generous donations like the one we received from Simon and Bonnie, we’re proud that the Women’s Council continues to grow and that we are able to continue to provide state-of-the-art services for cancer diagnosis and treatment and make a positive impact on the lives of patients and families receiving care at the Leon Hess Cancer Center.”
“We have gotten so much from the hospital and wanted to make sure that some of the programs that we helped put in place continue,” Bonnie Levin said. “If you support local, quality healthcare, chances are, they will be there for you when you need it and give you more time to enjoy your children and grandchildren.”
Today, the Levins live in Miami Beach, spend summers in New Jersey and attend MMC events whenever possible.
“MMC has always been there for us – both my husband and I have had some serious medical emergencies and the hospital has always been wonderful,” Bonnie Levin said. “MMC holds a very special place in our hearts.”
