EAST BRUNSWICK – After East Brunswick Patrolman John Hoernlein allegedly observed an occupied vehicle on the top level of the East Brunswick Transportation Center on the Old Bridge Turnpike around 10:43 p.m. on June 26, he charged three individuals with trespassing, according to the East Brunswick Police Department.
The Transportation Center parking garage is for vehicles with parking permits and “No Trespassing” signs are posted at each entrance to the facility, according to police.
While speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, identified as a 22-year-old man from East Brunswick and two women, both 19 and from South River, Hoernlein allegedly detected the odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
Police said the man was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a summons for having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. The man and the women were each issued a violation for trespassing in the parking garage.
Police administration said officers will continue to maintain a presence at municipal parking facilities following recent reports of vandalism and loitering at those locations.
