MILLSTONE – A new recreation coordinator in Millstone Township has been appointed by the Township Committee.

On July 5, committee members passed a resolution appointing Andrew DeFelice to the position of recreation coordinator in the township’s recreation department. His appointment became effective on July 2.

According to the resolution, DeFelice, who also serves as a member of the Millstone Township Recreation Commission, will receive an annual salary of $40,000 as recreation coordinator. His duties in the position will include preparing and attending monthly meetings of the recreation commission.

In other business, committee members passed a resolution appointing Susan Beyers as a seasonal summer recreation clerk in the recreation department. Beyers will fill the position from July 2 through Aug. 3. The position has a pay rate of slightly more than $14 per hour.

The committee also passed a resolution authorizing Mayor Gary Dorfman and Township Clerk Maria Dellasala to execute a project agreement with Monmouth County for performance and delivery of delivery of a $23,636 grant allocation for community development projects in 2018.

According to the resolution, the county expects to receive an allocation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for 2018 and its annual plan submitted to HUD this year includes a project for Millstone with the $23,636 grant allocation.

Millstone has met all the requirements for the release of funds to begin incurring costs for the project. Officials said the funds will be used to make improvements to Millstone’s municipal building and court building to comply with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act.
