Instructor Peter Flood observes Salim Sayed, 8, of Old Bridge, while his brothers Omar, 10, (L) and Ali, 8 adjust the track as youngsters design their own roller coaster after learning about the physics behind them during the Da Vinci Science Center's outreach program at the Old Bridge Library on July 22.

The Old Bridge Library has partnered with the Da Vinci Science Center’s outreach program to allow patrons to explore the thrill felt while riding roller coasters.

As part of the ongoing InQuire Science Series, the “Thrill Ride!” program at 2:30 p.m. on July 22 will examine the factors that generate the excitement experienced on amusement park rides such as roller coasters. During the interactive exploration of roller coaster physics and design, participants will work in teams to create their own model coasters. They will investigate variables, forces and energy while working to meet specific design challenges.

The session is geared for children ages 8 and up.

No registration is necessary.

The Old Bridge Library is located at 1 Old Bridge Plaza at the corner of Route 516 and Cottrell Road in the Municipal Center. For more information, visit www.oldbridgelibrary.org or call 732-721-5600, ext. 5033.
