EAST BRUNSWICK – In an effort to improve pedestrian safety, the East Brunswick Police Department (EBPD) has partnered with Keep Middlesex Moving (KMM) to bring the “Flag It!” program to town.

The program is a simple, cost-effective pedestrian safety program that addresses busy intersections, according to information provided by the EBPD.

KMM has provided brightly colored flags which were placed on each side of a street at the intersection of Rues Lane and Winton Road. Pedestrians are encouraged to carry a flag as they cross the roadway to increase their visibility to motorists. Flags can be placed in the nearest tube, once the pedestrian has completed their travels across the road.

The EBPD intends to expand the “Flag It!” program to additional locations which include the intersection of Rues Lane and New Brunswick Avenue and the intersection of Dunhams Corner Road and Ryders Lane, according to the statement.
