East Brunswick police charge South Amboy man with drug possession

EAST BRUNSWICK–A 21-year-old South Amboy man was charged on an outstanding warrant and allegedly possessing heroin and cocaine.

East Brunswick Ptl. Matthew Egnasko initiated a motor vehicle stop on a 2000 gray BMW in the area of Route 18 south and Edgeboro Road around 2:52 a.m. July 15 for multiple equipment violations, according to a statement provided by the police department.

During the course of the motor vehicle stop, the driver was allegedly found to have an active warrant out of the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department, according to police.

The South Amboy man was also allegedly found to be in possession of 147 wax paper folds of suspected heroin and 97 plastic bags of a white powder suspected to be cocaine, according to police.

The man was charged with two counts of controlled dangerous substance distribution and two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, according to police.

The man was transported to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in lieu of the outstanding warrant, according to police.
