Child passes away 10 days after incident at water park

EAST BRUNSWICK – A 7-year-old boy involved in an incident at Crystal Springs Family Waterpark has passed away.

The East Brunswick Police Department received a report of a boy who was not breathing at 3:35 p.m. on July 30.

Police officers, Crystal Springs personnel and emergency medical services responders performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the child, who was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick.

“It is with the deepest regret that I must report the passing of the young boy who was involved in the swimming accident a little over a week ago at Crystal Springs Water Park, East Brunswick. I share the sentiments of the entire community in offering our prayers and condolences to the family as they enter this very difficult time,” Mayor Brad Cohen said in a prepared statement.

Police would not release further details.
