Sayreville school board authorizes purchase of equipment

SAYREVILLE – The Sayreville School District Board of Education has approved the $403,826 purchase of technology equipment, facility equipment and school buses with funds provided by a lease-purchase agreement.

On July 26, the board awarded a contract to U.S. Bancorp Government Leasing and Finance to provide lease-purchase financing in a principal amount up to $403,826. The purpose of the contract is to finance the board’s lease-purchase of technology equipment, school buses and facility equipment.

Concurrent with awarding the contract, board members approved the purchase of technology equipment, school buses and facility equipment totaling $403,826.

From CDW-G, the board approved the purchase of $128,326 in technology equipment, which was comprised of 256 HP Chromebook laptop computers at a cost of $53,760, 151 Acer Chromebook laptop computers at a cost of $41,523, 17 Anywhere Cart carts at a cost of $13,243, 407 copies of Google Chrome Management software, 136 OtterBox Defender Pack protective cases at a cost of $6,775 and 407 copies of White Glove Service for services related to the laptop computers and software.

From Apple, the board approved the purchase of $40,014 in technology equipment, which was comprised of 13 iPad tablets, part of a 10-pack with WiFi and 32 gigabytes (GB) at a cost of $38,220, and six iPad tablets with WiFi and 32 GB at a cost of $1,794.

From Truck King International Sales and Service, the board approved the purchase of two 2019 54-seat passenger school buses with options at a cost of $164,853.

From John A. Earl, the board approved the purchase of $14,368 in facility equipment,  comprised of two Auto Scrubber floor cleaners at a cost of $12,948, and four batteries for the Auto Scrubber floor cleaners at a cost of $1,420.

From Storr Tractor Company, the board approved the purchase of $44,515 in facility equipment, comprised of one $38,490 tractor, one $4,424 front end loader, one $940 loader fork and one $660 ballast box.

In other business, the board approved a $9,268 increase in a contract with Shaw Sports Turf for turf field replacement at Sayreville War Memorial High School. The change order increases the original $407,234 contract to $416,502. The increase is for additional site prep work which, according to Superintendent of Schools Richard Labbe, was the result of a sinkhole.
