Middletown falls short of Little League World Series

Middletown will not advance to the Little League World Series.

Middletown was eliminated from the Mid-Atlantic Regional when it was defeated by Berlin, the Maryland state champion, 11-1, on Aug. 10 in Bristol, Conn. The Mid-Atlantic Regional loss ended Middletown’s run to the brink of the Little League World Series.

In July, Middletown won the Section 3 Tournament and the New Jersey State Tournament. Then Middletown beat Berlin, 6-2, in its regional opener on Aug. 6. Middletown was two victories away from earning a trip to Williamsport, Pa., the site of the Little League World Series.

Middletown fell to Mid Island Little League, the New York state champion, 5-2, on Aug. 8.   Then Middletown lost the rematch to Berlin.
