Local law enforcement officers will crack down on drunk drivers as part of the summer 2018 Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over statewide Labor Day campaign.

From Aug. 17 through Sept. 3, local and state law enforcement officers will conduct sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols, looking for motorists who may be driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs.

The national campaign helps raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving through high visibility enforcement and public education tools.

Police departments offer the following advice: Designate a sober driver, take mass transit or a taxi, spend the night where the activity is held, report impaired drivers to law enforcement and always use a seatbelt regardless of seating position.
