Young artists in 18th Legislative District may enter contest

Young artists in the 18th Legislative District – East Brunswick, Edison, Helmetta, Highland Park, Metuchen, South Plainfield and South River – are invited to enter a Youth Artwork Contest sponsored by state Sen. Patrick Diegnan, Assemblywoman Nancy Pinkin and Assemblyman Robert Karabinchak.

Individuals between the ages of 6 and 20 may submit artwork in a variety of forms, including paintings, drawings, digital designs and photography.

Winners will have their artwork framed and displayed on the walls of Pinkin’s and Karabinchak’s office, and participate in a tour of the office. There will be nine winners, three from each age category, announced on Sept. 4.

All entries must relate to the culture and community of each age group theme as follows: USA patriotism for ages 6-10, maximum size 12 inches by 24 inches; New Jersey: Our Great State for ages 11-15, maximum size 24 inches by 36 inches; and Legislative District 18: Our Community for ages 16-20, maximum size 24 inches by 36 inches.

The entries must be submitted to the 18th Legislative District Office, 3 Stephenville Parkway, Suite 2D, Edison, with the contestant’s name, age, address, phone number, and email address. For more information, call 732-548-1406 or email AswPinkin@njleg.org. Deadline is Aug. 31.
