Upper Freehold adds revenue to budget

UPPER FREEHOLD – The Township Committee is requesting approval from the state to insert special items of revenue into Upper Freehold Township’s 2018 municipal budget.

In April, municipal officials adopted a $5.76 million budget to fund the operation of the municipality during 2018.

Following the adoption of a budget, the township may receive additional revenues which are added to the spending plan.

On Aug. 1, committee members passed two resolutions requesting approval from Timothy Cunningham, director of the Division of Local Government Services in Department of Community Affairs, to add the revenues to the budget and appropriate the money for certain uses.

One resolution asks Cunningham to approve the insertion of $25,821 into the 2018 budget. The money is available from the state’s Clean Communities Grant Fund.

The second resolution asks Cunningham to approve the insertion of a $952 into the 2018 budget. The money is available from the state’s Municipal Court Alcohol Education, Rehabilitation and Enforcement Fund.

In other business, committee members hired David Mucciarello as an on-call/seasonal Department of Public Works employee and equipment operator (part-time). Mucciarello will help maintain the safety and proper functionality of Upper Freehold’s roads, parks and public grounds, according to the resolution. The position has a hourly rate of $12.
