FREEHOLD – The Freehold Borough K-8 School District Board of Education has authorized the purchase and installation of $33,895 in technology equipment for areas that have been newly constructed at one of the district’s facilities.
On Aug. 21, board members voted to authorize Business Administrator Joseph Howe and Director of Technology and Assessment Jennifer Donnelly to purchase four network switches and installation from Millennium Communications Group.
The network switches will service the technology infrastructure in areas at the Park Avenue Complex, Park Avenue, which have been newly constructed as part of an expansion project in the district.
The Park Avenue Complex houses two of the district’s schools, the Park Avenue Elementary and the Freehold Intermediate School.
According to the resolution, the purchase covers four network switches, license and support software for each of the network switches, and the installation and configuration of the switches. The four network switches will cost $26,527, the installation and configuration of the switches will cost $4,080, and the license and support software will cost $3,288.
In other business, the board approved a partnership with Count Basie Education and Outreach through the United Way of Monmouth and Ocean County for the 2018-19 school year.
According to district administrators, the United Way will provide grant funds to support two family nights in 2018-19 focused on the discussion and presentation of children’s books. The partnership will also provide funds for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten pupils to attend performances at the Count Basie Center for the Arts, Red Bank.
And, board members approved a memorandum of understanding with Community YMCA Counseling and Social Services, Matawan, from July 1 through Dec. 31.
The school district will provide facilities at no charge to the Community YMCA so it may provide mental health services to students in-district. Students’ families will make arrangements directly with the Community YMCA through their insurance carrier.
The agreement with the Community YMCA will not produce any cost to the Freehold Borough school district, according to the board.
