Marlboro Day will begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new playground. The Green Meadows petting zoo will allow guests to meet and pet farm animals.

For those who want to keep up with what is happening on a Sunday afternoon in the National Football League, there will be a lounge where guests can watch football with Mayor Jonathan Hornik.

“It’s my favorite time of year and my favorite holiday,” Hornik said of Marlboro Day. “Please come out if you have never been there. It is an awesome day in town. We get about 20,000 people throughout the day. It’s like a county fair.”

Parking will be available at the Marlboro Library, Wyncrest Road; the Marlboro Elementary School, School Road West; the Marlboro Middle School, Route 520; and the Marlboro Recreation Community Center, Wyncrest Road. Shuttle buses will transport guests to and from the municipal complex between 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

“It’s a celebration of our community,” Recreation Director Ted Ernst said. “Our staff and volunteers put in a lot of hard work each year to make it as fun for everybody as possible.”

There will be police vehicles and fire equipment on site at Marlboro Day for visitors of all ages to view. No alcohol, smoking or pets are permitted at the event. The rain date for Marlboro Day is Sept. 23.
