HOWELL – Christa Riddle has been named to serve as the coordinator of the Howell Municipal Alliance.
The alliance is part of the statewide Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Municipal Alliance program for community-based substance abuse prevention strategies.
The alliance’s mission statement says it “collaborates with residents, schools, town government, police, businesses and other local organizations to prevent drug addiction, underage drinking and tobacco use through promoting public awareness, education, outreach resources, life skills and positive choices.”
Municipal officials announced Riddle’s hiring on Aug. 30. Riddle has lived in Howell since 2003. She previously served the alliance for 10 years in volunteer capacities. The coordinator’s position is a full-time job with a $56,500 salary.
Prior to being named the coordinator of the alliance, Riddle owned a writing consultant business. She is a member of the Howell Chamber of Commerce and a volunteer with the Howell Optimist Club. Riddle holds a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Monmouth University and a Bachelor of Arts in English/Writing from Drew University.
“I feel honored to serve my community, especially when it comes to substance abuse prevention efforts, and I look forward to future collaboration with the Howell police, schools, civic organizations and community members,” Riddle said.
“I know that effective substance abuse prevention must be a collective effort because drug addiction affects everyone within a community in one way or another. As coordinator, I hope to partner with as many sectors as possible from across Howell to advance our prevention awareness and education with passion and dedication,” she said.
