The Dukes flag team played the Metuchen Bulldogs on Sunday, September 16. The Dukes successfully made it to the endzone four times against Metuchen. MVP John Bilings had three touchdowns and racked up 13 flag pulls. Jackson Karsay also made it to the endzone.

All Flag players had an excellent game on defense with more than half the team coming up with a flag pull. The 2018 Dukes Flag team, Bryant Basilone, John Bilings, Michael Biviano, Uriel Bogantes, Harry Bugal III, Michael Ercolino, Matthew Fedora, Travis Hill, Jackson Karsay, Jaxxon Lugo, Josiah Malek, Jace O’Donnell, Aaron Parks, and Amore Vagi, are having a great season.

Mighty Mite

The Dukes Mighty Mite team improved their season record to 3-0 bringing in a 19-7 win over the Metuchen Bulldogs.

The Dukes offense was led by quarterback Aaron Feath with two touchdowns and Sanjay Mills also reaching the endzone. Daniel Gaffney added to the score with a PAT. All this was possible due to offensive linemen Gavin Glazweski, Jack Schmelzer and Caden Walinsky keeping the running lanes open.

The Defense held the Bulldogs to 7 points by linebacker Bryce Hayden. Caden Walinsky and Ryan Spinelli led a dominant Duke defense the entire game. Vincent Nedeski forced a key fumble at the goal line that kept the bulldogs from putting more points on the board.

Jr. Pee Wee

The Hillsborough Junior Pee Wees came out victorious against the Bull Dogs with a 32-12 win. Making their season record 3-0.

The Dukes offense had touchdowns from our captains; Logan McDermid (3 TD), William “Bubba” Hayes (2 TD) and Quinn Hayden (1 TD). Several key blocks from the offensive line, opening up holes all day.

Their defense was led by William “Bubba” Hayes and Quinn Hayden making key tackles all day long. Logan McDermid with a big interception to seal the game. Joshua Malek and David Dewberry both had two sacks between them.

On special teams, the Dukes had a blocked punt by William Bubba Hayes and Evan Puleio both offensively and defensively was the rock of the team.

Pee Wee

Hillsborough Dukes won a hard fought battle on a scorcher of a day versus a tough Metuchen Bulldog team. The defense overcame an early big play score and put together a strong day. Led by JB McCrea and Dylan Downey, the defense would only surrender one more score late in the game. Strong efforts were given by Jake Susan, Julian Brunelle, Tyler Oram and Zion Grant as well.

Offensively, quarterback Cole Hayden guided his team to three scores. Led by a strong ground game from Peter Sorbera and Dylan Downey. The Dukes also received support from tight ends Heath Miller and JB McCrea, who both made spectacular receptions on the day.

Overall it was a strong performance and great victory.

Join us next Sunday, September 23 for a day of football when the Dukes return home at Hillsborough High School. The Dukes will also be honoring their eighth grade athletes at a short ceremony beginning at approximately 3 p.m.
