The League 8 All-Stars, a team of junior golfers from Monmouth and Ocean counties, placed fourth in the PGA Jr. League Regional at LedgeRock Golf Club in Mohnton, Pa., on Sept. 15 and 16.
All 10 League 8 All-Stars are 13 years old or younger.
They team consisted of Sean McGarry of Shrewsbury, Jack O’Connor of Freehold, Bobby Mander of Holmdel, Kevin Ostrander of Point Pleasant, Riley Lawrence of Oceanport, Christian Klemanowicz of Freehold, Braden Tolas of Middletown, Alexandra Schaul of Holmdel, John Welch of Freehold and Richie Reck of Middletown.
The regional tournament was played in a match play format. The League 8 team, which represented the New Jersey PGA Section, finished 0-3.
The League 8 team lost to the eventual champion, the Delaware 1 All-Stars from the Philadelphia PGA Section, the Suffolk County Division 2 All-Stars from the Metropolitan PGA Section, and the Syracuse East 2 All-Stars from the Central New York PGA Section.
The Delaware 1 All-Stars advanced to the PGA Jr. League Championship that will be played from Nov. 16-19 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The League 8 golfers reached the regional by winning the New Jersey PGA Jr. League Section Championship at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Bedminster on Aug. 23.
