EAST BRUNSWICK–East Brunswick police confirmed there was no criminal activity during an incident that was originally reported as a man chasing a young child.
The East Brunswick Police Department was investigating a suspicious incident in which a juvenile reported being chased by an adult male after getting off his school bus around 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 1 at Willow Street between Arthur Street and New Street, according to police.
The investigation revealed the suspect in question was visiting from another country and has family in the area. The incident has been deemed a misunderstanding, according to officials.
Once advised of the situation, the suspect fully cooperated with the investigation and this incident is no longer considered suspicious, police said.
