Fox tests positive for rabies in East Brunswick

EAST BRUNSWICK -The Middlesex County Office of Health Services is reporting that a fox tested positive for rabies in East Brunswick in the vicinity of South Drive and Kirklin Place.

This is the 11th rabid animal reported within Middlesex County for 2018 and the second rabid animal in East Brunswick.

On Oct. 5, the animal control officer for East Brunswick responded to a property where a resident’s dog had bitten a fox. The fox was sent to the New Jersey Department of Health Laboratory for testing. It was reported on Oct. 11 that the animal tested positive for rabies, according to the statement.

There were no known human exposures and there was one domestic animal exposure to the fox. The resident’s pet has a current rabies vaccination and received a rabies vaccine booster, according to the statement.
