Republican committee endorses Skobo, Lipani

To the editor:

As current members of the township committee we have had the distinct pleasure of working with both Shawn Lipani and Ron Skobo and have had the opportunity to see firsthand the positive contributions they have both brought to our town from their many years of community service and volunteerism, as well as their professional and business involvement in Hillsborough. We are proud to endorse both of these outstanding public servants and leaders for election to the township committee.

Shawn Lipani has been a lifelong Hillsborough resident and long-time business owner in town, in addition to serving as a member of the Hillsborough Rotary Club. He has served as the Hillsborough Planning Board Chairman, along with serving on the Hillsborough Economic and Business Development Commission, Youth Services, Board of Adjustment and Capital Planning. His extensive work on Hillsborough boards give him a keen insight into government operations that will serve him extremely well on the township committee.

Ron Skobo, a more than 40-year resident of Hillsborough, has been very active as a local volunteer after completing a 30-year career in law enforcement in Somerset County. His many community efforts include serving as the Hillsborough Recreation Chairman, serving on the Hillsborough Planning Board and the Hillsborough Cultural and Arts Commission. He is a member of the Elks Lodge and has also served as the Somerset Treatment Services Board President and volunteered with the Somerset County Youth Leadership.

They are both hard working, disciplined and focused individuals of high character and integrity. Their commitment to Hillsborough is impressive. Through their many volunteer positions in Hillsborough, we have all seen their commitment to giving back to the community. We have seen up close how their decisions and actions remain true to their core principles of fiscal responsibility, a businesslike approach to municipal government, preservation of open space, economic growth and support for our business community and open and transparent government…principles that we share with them.

In Hillsborough, your elected officials work as a team to ensure that the township remains “one of the best place to live in America.” Shawn Lipani and Ron Skobo have consistently proven themselves to be the type of volunteers, public servants and community leaders of which we can all be proud.

We strongly endorse their election and ask for your support in electing them to the township committee on November 6th.
