A hard hit between youth football players turned into a fight that involved coaches and parents on the football field at Central Park at about 3:25 p.m. Oct. 20, according to the Lawrence Township Police Department.

Teams from Lawrence Township and Florence Township in Burlington County were playing when a bad tackle or a hard hit led to pushing and shoving between the players, Lt. Joseph Amodio said. The age of the players is not known, but they were most likely between 10 and 13 years old.

A coach tried to intervene between the players, Amodio said. At that point, more coaches and parents ran onto the field and a fight broke out. The fight was eventually broken up.

Two Lawrence Township police officers responded to the park, but no charges have been filed, Amodio said. Police are asking for video footage of the fight and would like anyone who recorded it to contact the police department.

The incident is under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call Detective David Burns at 609-844-7124.
