Sayreville woman charged with drug-related fatality

A Sayreville woman was charged with allegedly providing the drugs that caused the death of a 32-year-old borough resident.

Danielle Urbanowicz, 30, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, was charged on Oct. 16 with one count of strict liability for a drug-induced death for providing the combination of heroin and fentanyl that killed the woman, according to a statement provided by Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Matthew  P. Geist of the Middlesex Police Department said

The victim was found dead in Urbanowicz’s home on Sept. 22. The Middlesex County Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be the result of the combined toxic effects of heroin and fentanyl, officials said.

The defendant was previously charged on Sept. 22 with the distribution of a controlled and dangerous substance.

An investigation by Detective Sean Flanagan of the Middlesex Police Department and Detective Erik Larsen of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined Urbanowicz allegedly sold the combination of heroin and fentanyl to the victim, which caused her death.

Urbanowicz is currently being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center pending an initial court appearance.

Anyone with information should call Flanagan at 732-356-1900, ext. 313, or Larsen at 732-745-3263.
