Freehold Borough board approves security for new spaces

FREEHOLD – As work on a $33 million construction project in the Freehold Borough K-8 School District nears completion, the Board of Education has approved the purchase of $86,019 in additional cameras and monitoring equipment for new areas that have been constructed at the district’s two facilities.

The district has three schools at two locations. The Freehold Learning Center elementary school, Dutch Lane Road, educates pupils in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. The Park Avenue Elementary School and the Freehold Intermediate School are both housed in the Park Avenue Complex on Park Avenue. The elementary school educates pupils in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade and the intermediate school educates students in grades six through eight.

With both facilities being expanded, the board has hired CM3 Building Solutions to furnish and install cameras and access swipe readers in the additions. The new equipment will be integrated into existing security systems.

At the Park Avenue Complex, upgrades involving access and security will cost $54,283. At the Freehold Learning Center, upgrades involving access and security will cost $31,736. The total expenditure at both locations is $86,019, according to district administrators.

District administrators have said the construction projects which will increase the district’s educational space are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
