John “Jack” F. Petrone, Jr., 65

John “Jack” F. Petrone, Jr., 65, of Hamilton, entered into God’s care Sunday, November 4, 2018 at his residence, with his loving family by his side.
Born and raised in Princeton, he was a proud graduate of The Hun School of Princeton, Class of 1971, where he was a member of the “33 Club”, named for the streak of wins in football from 1966 through 1971, held the football rushing record for over 30 years, and was an Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee. He graduated from the University of Dayton in 1975, with a Bachelor of Arts in History. After his college graduation, Jack returned to Princeton, where he met the love of his life, Gail, whom he married on September 11, 1983.
Jack, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, retired from Princeton Township Police Department with the rank of Detective Sergeant, after 30 years of dedicated service.
He was a wine enthusiast, avid golfer and bird lover; he enjoyed working and spending time in his garden, and traveling with his beloved wife and children.
Predeceased by his mother, the late Jean (Rowles) Petrone, he is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Gail (Filipponi) Petrone; his children, Jaclyn Petrone and her fiancé Ryan Gardner, Dean Petrone and Brent Petrone; his father, John “Jack” Petrone, Sr.; four brothers, James Petrone and wife Carol, Jeffrey Petrone and wife Leigh, Judd Petrone and wife Ginger and Jason Petrone and wife Kathleen; his sister-in-law, Kathy Filipponi; and is also survived by aunts, uncles, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held 9:00 am Friday, November 9, 2018 from Hamilton Brenna Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse Mercerville Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 am on Friday, November 9, at St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton, NJ 08690.
Burial will follow in Princeton Cemetery, 29 Greenview Ave, Princeton, NJ 08542.
