MARLBORO – Kathleen Amster, Stephen Shifrinson and Robyn Wolfe have been elected to three-year terms on the Marlboro K-8 School District Board of Education.
The trio outpolled newcomers Rakesh Chandwani, Sarah Harris-Kreisler and Michelle Montecalvo in the school election on Nov. 6.
Shifrinson and Wolfe are incumbents who have been elected to their second term on the board. Wolfe currently serves as the board president. Shifrinson served as vice president in 2016 and 2017.
Amster, Shifrinson and Wolfe will begin serving their new terms on Jan. 8.
According to unofficial results posted online by the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office, Amster received 5,651 votes, Shifrinson received 5,601 votes and Wolfe received 5,544 votes to claim the seats. The results are not official until they are certified by the county.
Harris-Kreisler, 4,587 votes, Chandwani, 4,393 votes and Montecalvo, 4,031 votes, fell short in their bids.
Commenting on the outcome of the election, Amster said, “First, I would like to thank my family for all their support. I also want to thank my running mate, Sarah Harris-Kreisler, for all her support and hard work in this election. My final thanks are for all the citizens of Marlboro who put their trust in me to represent them on the board.
“I am excited to get to work with board members in January. Over the past year I had the opportunity to meet many concerned parents in Marlboro. I want them to know I have not forgotten our conversations. As a new board member I want to be a voice for them and for all the children in our community,” Amster said.
Following her election, Wolfe said, “Thank you very much to everyone who supported me. I am glad the voters put their trust in me for a second term. There are still things in Marlboro that need to be accomplished. I will continue to work hard as a board member for the students, staff and community of Marlboro.”
