FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – An administrator in the Freehold Township K-8 School District has been named an assistant superintendent in the district.
Dianne Brethauer, principal of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School, was appointed as the assistant superintendent of human resources and technology by the Board of Education on Oct. 16. Her appointment became effective on Oct. 17 and runs until June 30, 2019, after which she may be reappointed by the board.
Pending approval by Lester Richens, the interim Monmouth County Superintendent of Schools, she will receive a salary of $160,000.
Brethauer will succeed Neil Dickstein as assistant superintendent of human resources and technology. Dickstein was selected by the board as the district’s next superintendent of schools in September.
“I am enthusiastic about the opportunity for Dr. Brethauer to join our central office team of administrators where she can contribute a fresh perspective to our work in educating the whole child and supporting our outstanding staff,” Dickstein said.
According to Dickstein, Brethauer joined Freehold Township in 2001 as the assistant principal at Eisenhower. She was the assistant principal of the Clifton T. Barkalow Middle School before being named principal at Eisenhower.
Before her tenure as an administrator in Freehold Township, Brethauer taught in the Hillsborough Township School District, Somerset County.
“I am so excited to have this opportunity to serve the Freehold Township schools,” Brethauer said. “I joined Freehold Township in 2001 after teaching in Hillsborough for six years. I have been fortunate to serve as the assistant principal of both middle schools (Barkalow and Eisenhower) before my tenure as principal began in 2005. My 13 years serving as Eisenhower’s principal have been filled with so many amazing moments with students, staff, and parents. I look forward to working alongside Superintendent Dickstein to serve our district’s schools in this new capacity.”
