‘Rock the House’ for mental health Nov. 18 in Asbury Park

Rock the House to the The Bobby Bandiera Band and Guilty Pleasure to support Shore House from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park.

Shore House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people throughout Monmouth County living with a mental illness regain their lives through education, employment and socialization. Based on the international clubhouse model, Shore House is the first and only accredited clubhouse in the state, according to a press release.

“Mental illness is close to my heart, as I have a son and grandson afflicted,” said Bobby Bandiera, a former guitar player with Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Bon Jovi, and a regular performer with Bruce Springsteen.

“Isolation and loneliness are consequences of many mental health challenges, but the human connections found at Shore House are vital to mental health and well being.

“Shore House provides a social connection, a community of mutual support. Those with mental illness begin recovery at Shore House – it’s the first step and it’s OK to start small because it’s a start as they begin to end the isolation and loneliness that so often accompanies mental illness.

“It’s not easy. We all know someone with mental illness, or know someone who knows someone afflicted. Please be kind to someone today and tomorrow, as they may be afflicted, too. That’s all I ask,” Bandiera said.

Tickets are $50 online and $60 at the door. Student tickets are $25 online and $30 at the door. Families with children are welcome at a family rate of $150 for five tickets. Tickets can be purchased at www.shoreclubhouse.org. Online ticket sales close Nov. 16.
