Fresh Air Fund thanks families

Scott Jacobs
East Freehold Showgrounds in Freehold was the home of the Monmouth County Fair from the dates of July 25-29. Caleb Schoenfeld (3), of Matawan, enjoys fresh cotton candy on July 26.

The Fresh Air Fund, an independent, not-for-profit agency based in New York, is thanking families in Central and Southern New Jersey for opening their hearts and home to Fresh Air children.

Fresh Air children are boys and girls who live in New York City. Children who are reinvited by host families may continue with The Fresh Air Fund through age 18 and can enjoy extended trips. Volunteer host families frequently share how they rediscover the beauty of their own communities through the eyes of Fresh Air children.

The Fresh Air Fund has provided free summer experiences through The Fresh Air Fund’s Friendly Towns Program to more than 1.8 million New York City children from low-income communities since 1877. Each summer, thousands of children visit volunteer host families along the East Coast and Southern Canada and at The Fund’s five overnight camps in Fishkill, N.Y. Fresh Air children also participate in year-round leadership and educational programs.

For more information about hosting a Fresh Air child next summer, contact Laurie Bershad at 609-371-2817 or visit www.freshair.org.
