The Florence Township Police Department announced on Nov. 8 that a Florence resident was arrested last week for attempted burglaries at multiple township businesses.

According to a report from the police, detectives observed Cory Wilson, 28, of Florence, walking on Wallace Avenue near Sixth Street on the morning of Nov. 8, and took him into custody. This action by the detectives was a result of officials who had said he matched the description of a suspect in a surveillance videos taken from reported burglaries the previous week.

Officials received three reports on the week of Oct. 29 for burglaries and attempted burglaries at the township’s Dollar Tree, Bob’s Corner Deli and Nook’s Pourhouse. In several instances, officials said that Wilson was startled off by the burglar alarm before being able to steal anything.

Detectives reportedly took Wilson into custody for an outstanding warrant from Trenton Municipal Court and found him to be in possession of proceeds from one of the burglaries.

Officials said Wilson was then transported to township department for processing and upon completion of processing; he was charged with three counts of criminal mischief, two counts of burglary and one count of theft.

Wilson was then turned over to Burlington County Jail pending his court date.

The report also said that Wilson confessed to additional burglaries in Burlington City and Trenton City. Those departments were contacted and are following up on the information for potential charges against Wilson.
