Pennington seniors sign NLI

Four Pennington School seniors have signed NCAA National Letters of Intent to play Division I sports in college. They are Jaydin Avery (soccer, Saint Joseph’s University), Amanda Kenrick (lacrosse, Lafayette), Gianna Lucchesi (soccer, University of Richmond), and Alexandra Stevens (swimming, Southern Methodist University).

Avery, who lives in Trenton, has been a standout forward on Pennington’s Varsity Girls’ Soccer team for four seasons, scoring 18 goals this year and 52 goals in 74 games overall. In this year’s state championship game, she scored three goals within 11 minutes. Avery was selected for All State, All Prep, and Mercer 33 teams. With a four-year record of 61–9–4, the team has won three Prep A state championships and one Mercer County Tournament title.

Kenrick, a Yardley, Pa., resident, has been the starting goalkeeper for Pennington’s Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse team since enrolling at the School as a sophomore in 2016–17. “Amanda’s knowledge of the game and poise in the goal cage has made her a formidable foe for Pennington lacrosse opponents,” says Coach Wendy Morris. Kenrick also plays for Ultimate Lacrosse Club in Pennsylvania.

Hamilton Township resident Lucchesi has played four years as center back on Pennington’s Varsity Girls’ Soccer team, during which time the team has won three Prep A state championships and one Mercer County Tournament title, with a four-season record of 61–9–4. Lucchesi was selected for All State, All Prep, and Mercer 33 teams. She was recently selected to play in the 2018 High School All-American Game in Orlando, Fla., on Dec. 1.

Stevens, a boarding student from Summit, has been a mainstay of Pennington Varsity Swimming. She already holds five School swimming records: two relay records and three individual records in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle events.  Coach George Ward calls Stevens “arguably the best female freestyle swimmer The Pennington School has ever had in competitive swimming.”
