Princeton U soccer
The Princeton University men’s soccer team was eliminated from the NCAA tournament with a dramatic loss to Michigan in penalty kicks on Nov. 15. Princeton battled the Wolverines to a 1-1 tie through regulation, scoring on a goal Benjamin Martin in the opening half. Michigan tied the game in the second half and went on to win in round 14 of penalty kicks.
Princeton finished the season with a 10-5-3 overall record.
Princeton U field hockey
The Princeton University field hockey team was eliminated from the NCAA tournament with a 1-0 overtime loss to Maryland in the national semifinals on Nov. 16. Grace Baylis made one save in goal for the Tigers. Maryland went on to lose in the NCAA final, 2-0, to North Carolina.
Princeton finished the season with a 15-5 record.
Mooch soccer
Princeton Day School senior Wesley Leggett scored three goals to lead the White team to a 6-4 win over the Red team in the Glenn “Mooch” Myernick Senior Games, which were held at Rider University on Sunday. The Hun School’s Elijah Smarr had a goal for the Red team.
In the girls’ game, the White team defeated the Red team, 4-0. The Mooch Senior Game is played in honor of the late Glenn Myernick, a former Lawrence High star who was inducted into the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame in 2015.
Princeton U hockey
The Princeton University women’s ice hockey team is 5-2-3 overall and 4-0-2 in the ECAC after posting a victory and a tie last weekend at Baker Rink. The Tigers opened the weekend with a 6-0 win over Colgate as Karlie Lund scored a pair of goals. PU then tied Cornell, 2-2, as Lund and Annie MacDonald each scored goals.
The Princeton men are 3-3-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the ECAC after dropping a pair of games on the road last weekend. The Tigers fell to Colgate, 2-1, before dropping a 5-1 decision to Cornell. Matt Kellenberger scored in the loss to Colgate, while Josh Teves scored in the loss to the Big Red.
COLLEGE
Eric Williams
The Hun School graduate is averaging 17.3 points per game through the first four games of the season for the Ursinus College men’s basketball team. The scoring average is the second best on the team for the Bears. Williams, a senior guard, has a season-high 23 points in a 92-83 loss to St. Lawrence on Nov. 17.
Ursinus is 2-2 following a 93-75 win over Hartwick last Sunday. The Bears were scheduled to face Haverford on Tuesday.
Zahrian Blue
The Princeton High graduate is averaging 7.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game this season for the Lincoln University men’s basketball team. Blue, a freshman, scored a season-high 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a 79-69 loss at Shippensburg on Nov. 11.
Lincoln is 1-2 on the season after dropping a 76-72 decision to Millersville on Nov. 17. The Lions were scheduled to face Kutztown on Tuesday and will be the host to Seton Hill on Saturday.
