FREEHOLD – Jamie Corbett, Paul Jensen and Ron Reich have been elected to three-year terms on the Freehold Borough K-8 School District Board of Education.
Jensen is a current member of the board, Corbett is a newcomer and Reich is a former member of the board. Their terms will begin in January.
According to results posted online by the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office, Corbett won a seat by receiving 1,374 votes, Jensen retained his seat by receiving 1,241 votes and Reich won a seat by receiving 1,060 votes.
Incumbent Michael Lichardi, who joined the board in 2009 and has served as president since 2013, received 920 votes. His term will end in December.
The election results are unofficial until they are certified by the county.
Corbett is a real estate professional and was previously a teacher for more than 25 years, mostly teaching sixth grade math and science before retiring. She has lived in Freehold Borough since 2007.
“I would like to thank everyone for getting out on that rainy Tuesday and voting,” Corbett said. “I am humbled by your trust. Congratulations also go to Mr. Jensen and Mr. Reich. Thanks go to Mr. Lichardi for his service. I’m sure we are all ready to work together to help make Freehold Borough schools the absolute best they can be.”
Jensen is the manager of kitchen and food services for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen. He serves on the Board of Directors for Stomp the Monster, a local charity that raises funds for cancer patients going through treatment. He has lived in Freehold Borough since 2011 and joined the school board in 2016.
During the next three years, Jensen said, areas of focus for him will be receiving 100 percent funding in state aid so students can be provided a thorough and efficient education, getting all students in-district instead of renting classrooms for some Freehold Borough students to attend school in neighboring school districts, and making certain all students receive a nutritious meal.
Reich, an attorney, is currently part-time, in-house counsel for a corporation in Wall Township. A resident of Freehold Borough since 1974, he previously served on the school board from 1999 to 2014.
“I am thrilled to have been elected to the board and I look forward to the opportunity to work for the children in our school district,” Reich said.
