John P. Stevens Marching Hawks have successful season

The J.P. Stevens Marching Band, who recently won the USBBA New Jersey State Championship and is headed to Disney World to compete in the USBANDS Group 6 Open National Championship, entertain the crowd at half time as J.P. Steven's hosted "The Battle For The Nest" on Thanksgiving day, Nov 23. The J.P. Stevens Hawks got their wings clipped by the Edison Eagles 26 - 14.

EDISON – The John P. Stevens High School Marching Hawks placed second in their class at the afternoon preliminaries and qualified for the finals for the first time in their history, winning the caption award for Outstanding Music Performance at the Bands of America Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships at the University of Delaware on Oct. 20.  

At the evening’s finals competition, the marching band placed second overall, winning caption awards for Outstanding Music Performance and Outstanding General Effect.

On Nov. 3, the Marching Hawks placed second in Group VI Open, winning the caption award for Best Music at the US Bands New England Regional Championships in Danbury, Connecticut.

On Nov. 10, the Marching Hawks placed fifth in Group VI Open, winning the caption award for Best Music at the US Bands Open Class National Championships at MetLife Stadium.  The US Bands National Championships concludes the marching band season.

The John P. Stevens Marching Hawks consists of 180 members. This year’s program is titled “Reflections”.
