Team Technopaths is composed of Yash Choudhari, Naina Choudhari, Anay Choudhari and Amruta Jayaganesh from Linwood Middle School in North Brunswick; Nirek Shah from Crossroads Middle School North in South Brunswick; and Palak Suryawanshi from Hillsborough Middle School in Hillsborough.

Each August, FIRST LEGO League introduces a scientific and real-world challenge for teams to focus and research on. The robotics part of the competition involves designing and programming LEGO Mindstorms robots to complete tasks. The students work out solutions to the various problems they are given and then meet for regional tournaments to share their knowledge, compare ideas, and display their robots, according to information provided by Parag B. Shah.

This year’s challenge “Into the Orbit” asked students to find a solution in space. Team Technopaths’ idea was to create an edible 3-D printer that can be used in space. This will solve a lot of issues/problems that astronauts have in space, according to the statement.

Team Technopaths, which was a rookie team in 2018, was able to beat 11 other teams and win the Chester Chapter held at Grace Bible Church in Chester.

As part of this victory, students will now advance to the next round at the state championship to be held at Mount Olive High School on Dec. 8 and 9.
