Democrat Gregory Handshy won the seat for mayor, and Democrats Samuel Fennell and Robert Taylor won seats on the South Toms River Borough Council on Election Day, Nov. 6.
Oscar Cradle did not seek re-election as mayor.
The candidates were Handshy, a councilman, and Republican Sandford Ross, the council president.
There were two seats on the ballot for the six-member council. The candidates were Fennell and Taylor, and Republicans William Gleason and Thomas Rolzhausen. Rolzhausen was seeking a second three-year term.
The election results are unofficial until they are certified by the county.
Handshy appeared to have won his first four-year term as mayor with 525 votes. Ross received 430 votes.
The apparent winners of the three-year terms on council are Fennell, who received 533 votes, and Taylor, who registered 528 votes. They will begin their first terms in January. Gleason received 414 votes and Rolzhausen collected 411 votes.
