Howe, Nardini, Polozzo win seats on Toms River regional school board

Jennifer Howe, Joseph Nardini and Anna Polozzo won seats on the Toms River Regional School District Board of Education on Election Day, Nov. 6.

There were two seats on the ballot for representatives of Toms River.

The candidates were Robert Onofrietti Jr., Erica Cirillo, Chistopher Raimann, Danielle Lebright, Howe and Nardini.

All of the election results are unofficial until they are certified by the Ocean County Clerk’s Office.

Onofrietti and Cirillo were running together under the slogan “Children, Community First.” Onofrietti served one term on the board and lost a re-election bid in 2017.

Raimann and Howe were running together under the slogan “Transparency, Tradition, Truth.

Lebright and Nardini were running together under the slogan “Working Together.”

According to the unofficial results of the election, the apparent winners of the three-year terms are Howe, who received 9,288 votes, and Nardini, who received 8,272 votes. Howe was seeking her first term on the board. Nardini won re-election to a second term.

The other candidates received votes as follows: Raimann, 7,550 votes, Lebright, 6,907 votes, Cirillo, 6,886 votes, and Onofrietti, 5,977 votes.

There was one seat on the ballot for a representative of South Toms River. The candidates were Anna Polozzo and Gigi Esparza, who is serving her sixth year on the board.

On Election Day, Polozzo appeared to have won her first three-year term by receiving 461 votes. Esparza received 295 votes. The vote total is unofficial until it is certified by the county.

In a comment on her Facebook page, Polozzo wrote, “Thank you all for your support. I am very proud to be your next South Toms River representative on the board.”

In a comment on her Facebook page, Esparza wrote, “I did not win, but I am grateful to have served for six years in the best school district, the Toms River regional schools! Thank you all so very much, God bless! My congratulations to Mrs. Polozzo. I wish you the best!”
