Audubon Christmas Bird Count takes place in Kingston on Dec. 16

Scott Jacobs
Jane Rakos-Yates, Clinic Supervisor for the Mercer County Park Commission, educated an audience about specific wildlife animals. The Red-Tailed Hawk rests on top of Janes glove while the audience observed the animal at the Mapleton Preserve/D&R Canal State Park Headquarters in Kingston on Sept 16.

The Kingston segment of this year’s Audubon Christmas Bird Count begins at 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 16 at the Locktender’s House in Kingston, and goes until noon.

After a break for lunch at Palace of Asia in Kingston, the count continues in the afternoon through 5 p.m.

Attendees can attend either or both sessions.

Experienced birders and novices are equally welcome to participate with members of the Kingston Greenways Association. Dress warmly, and bring binoculars if you have them.
