The Friends of South Amboy will hold a fundraising event on Dec. 15 at South Amboy Middle High School to support a lifelong South Amboy resident in his fight against Stage 4 colon cancer.

Chris “Stretch” Szatkowski is a former volunteer firefighter, U.S. Army veteran and correctional police officer who was diagnosed with metastatic disease to his liver and lungs in 2017. He has undergone extensive surgery and is currently undergoing an intense chemotherapy regimen, which he will be on for the rest of his life.
