FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – With work on Freehold Township’s water meters coming to a close, the Township Committee has authorized a $124,683 decrease in the project as part of the contract’s final payment.
On Nov. 7, committee members passed a resolution authorizing a change to the original $339,300 contract with Core and Main LP for work on the water meter reading infrastructure. The change approved by municipal officials will reduce the total cost to $214,617.
According to the resolution, the contract was awarded in 2015 when Core and Main LP was known as HD Supply Waterworks, Ltd. Freehold Borough was subsequently included at a cost of $109,250, to reach the $339,300 total.
The contract was reduced on the recommendation of the township engineering firm, Mott MacDonald, and Superintendent of Utilities Robert Koches due to an as-built adjustment of quantities, according to the resolution.
Officials said Freehold Borough had its share of the project costs reduced to $48,500, with the remaining $166,117 to be paid by Freehold Township.
In other business, the committee authorized a one-year contract with Mid-State Heating and Cooling Inc. for the replacement of the heating and cooling systems in the activity center at Michael J. Tighe Park in the amount of $39,000.
The committee also authorized a contract with Stryker Sales Corp. for the purchase of emergency medical services equipment for the Freehold First Aid and Rescue Squad in the amount of $27,302.
Additionally, committee members amended an emergency contract that had been awarded to Municipal Maintenance Company for emergency repairs at the Gully Road Pump Station, Pump No. 3. The amendment increased the original $27,180 contract by $7,530, for a total of $34,710.
Finally, the committee passed a resolution declaring acceptance and final payment of $48,200 to Bragaton Construction for improvements to the Asbury Avenue and Stone Hill Road water tanks.
