NORTH BRUNSWICK – Hundreds of third and fourth grade children and their parents attended the Livingston Park Elementary School STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) Expo on Nov. 14.
Fifth grade volunteers were on hand to walk visitors through the stations and provide technical support.
Working collaboratively, students and parents completed various littleBits challenges to create lights, fans, buzzers and timers. At the Makey Makey station, families created circuits and built their own bongos, pianos and video game controllers. Students followed a recipe to concoct their custom slime complete with food coloring and glitter. Families were challenged to drive their Sphero robot through an obstacle course using block code on a Chromebook. To demonstrate their coding skills, students raced their LEGO WeDo robots against one another. A family favorite was the bridge building challenge in our library Makerspace.
A PRIDE grant from the North Brunswick Township Education Association enabled the purchase of materials.
